Penang Water Colour Society
The Penang Water Colour Society was established in 1984 by a group of passionate watercolour artists from Penang, led by Dato’ Tay Mo-Leong. The society was founded with the aim of promoting local watercolour art and fostering artistic growth within the community.
Starting as a small collective, the society has grown over the past three decades into one of Malaysia’s most prominent art organizations. While most of its members are based in Penang, the society also includes artists from neighboring states such as Kedah and Perak.
The society holds an annual exhibition that serves as a platform for members to showcase and share their latest works. In addition, it regularly organizes art talks, watercolour demonstrations, competitions, and joint exhibitions in collaboration with international watercolour societies.
Through years of dedication, many members have become accomplished artists both locally and internationally, frequently invited to hold solo exhibitions or serve as judges for art competitions. The Penang State Art Gallery awards its highest honor each year—a retrospective exhibition and publication—to a distinguished artist, and several society members have been recipients of this recognition, including Dato’ Tay Mo-Leong, Dato’ Chong Hon Fatt, Dato’ Tan Chiang Kiong, Cheung Pooi Yip, Dr. Chew Teng Beng and Chew Kiat Lim.

檳城水彩畫會
成立於1984年。其發起人是一群熱愛水彩畫的檳城畫家，以拿督戴懋龍為領導。畫會成立的目的主要就是推動本土水彩創作。
從一個小小的畫會開始，檳城水彩畫會至今已經是馬來西亞其中一個重要的藝術團體。我們的會員以檳城畫家居多但也有一些來自鄰近州屬如吉打和霹靂等的畫友參與。目前我們共有91名會員。
檳城水彩畫會在過去的34年里極力推動本土水彩創作藝術。畫會主要的常年展是一個讓會員們發揮並分享他們近期創作作品的平台。除此之外畫會也會不定期舉辦藝術講座和分享，水彩示範及比賽，並和外國水彩畫會聯繫一起辦聯展及交流等活動。
經過多年的努力，許多檳城水彩畫會的會員們已是在藝壇上有成就的畫家。他們除了在國內外舉辦個展，也受到邀請擔任比賽評判。
檳城州立畫廊每年都會給予一位畫家最高的榮譽那就是為他舉辦回顧展並出版畫冊。其中檳城水彩畫會的會員就佔了好幾位。他們分別是拿督戴懋龍，拿督張漢發，拿督陳昌孔，張培業，周登明博士以及周吉林 。
