WAA! ONLINE SOLO/ SMALL GROUP EXHIBITION

Dear Members,

Here’s something exciting happening… The WAA! Online Auction platform will now open to members to apply for Solo/ Small Group Online Exhibitions. We will still hold the Online Auctions but can put in the Solo/ Small Group exhibitions in between online auctions. This is to encourage members to engage in more new works and we provide the platform to showcase your works.

For details, please read the following rules:

WAA! ONLINE SOLO/ SMALL GROUP EXHIBITION

WAA! will be used as a platform to feature Penang Water Colour Society’s members’ works in the form of solo or in small group. Kindly refer to the following Rules & Terms:

Rules & Terms

  1. This online platform is opened for Penang Water Colour Society’s members to hold their exhibitions.
  2. The exhibition can be in Solo or Small Group (2-5 artists).
  3. Number of paintings for each exhibition shall be as follow:

At least 60% of paintings must be works not exhibited at WAA! before.
  1. Exhibition must have a theme.
  2. The artwork must be artist own creation, done in watercolour or predominantly with watercolour.
  3. Duration of exhibition is 2 weeks (including uploading time).
  4. All artworks must be for sale. Artist is to make a donation of 5% to PWCS for every painting sold.
  5. The sales of paintings should be done using this platform and in the transparent manner. Any abandoned sales, secret dealing, painting not according to specified details etc are considered disruption to the exhibition, and may result in the expulsion of artist and collector from the group.
  6. Collection of money and delivery of painting to the collector is solely the responsibility of the artist. PWCS and the Admin are not responsible for any lost, damage to the painting and non-payment from the collector.
  7. Members who are interested must apply to PWCS Committee using the Google Form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAS3fusDS_TyGTN1LZEvky3PKTGgDravKdSEL_qk6THEVzbQ/viewform?usp=sf_link . The Committee has the right not to approve any proposal deem not suitable.
  8. PWCS and Admin will try their best to maintain this platform and find the best way to run the exhibition. Rules may be revised from time to time to a better performance.
  9. Artist participating in this online exhibition is deemed agreed to the Rules & Terms.

WAA! Online Auction – Update & Future Activities

各位会员，

我们自去年11月在面子书成立WAA！线上拍卖会以来，办了20场拍卖会及一场线上展览，成绩可圈可点（当然也碰过几场是零拍卖的）。原本以为是顺应疫情而短暂的在线上作一些活动，没想到这九个月以来，我们越发觉得线上活动将会是未来的大趋势（当然我们相信疫情受到控制以后实体展览还是有它的存在价值和市场），而且线上展览/拍卖有它的无限可能性，比如说远在天涯另一角的朋友也可以来参观、竞标等等。我们希望这个线上活动可以延续下去，当然没有会员的大力支持我们恐怕也很难走下去。其实这几个月以来，有不少非会员（本地及外国画家都有）也来投稿，但都被我们婉拒，因为我们只想把这个平台保留给会员，作为会员的其中一个福利，所以我们希望大家善用这个机会，踊跃参与，让我们的水彩画作走出槟城，走出马来西亚，走向国际，让更多远在天涯各地的艺术爱好者认识我们，也希望我们能打出一个自己的品牌。

另外，我们目前也在着手策划用WAA！这个平台来办会员的小型个展或小组展（2-5人），等详细计划和条规确定后，希望大家也来踊跃参与。

Dear All,

We have organised 20 Online Auctions and an Exhibition on WAA! since November last year. It was actually meant to be a temporary measure to counter the non-productive activities during the lockdown. However, it seems that online activities have become an important part of the new normal life. As such, we urge all members to grab this opportunity to work together and showcase our watercolours to others. For the past 9 months, we constantly received non-members’ (local and overseas artists) requests to post their works on WAA! but we politely reclined as we want to reserve this platform specially for PWCS members only. So let’s make this our special privilege as a member who can post on WAA! to show the world our watercolours. Together let’s make PWCS a notable branding in watercolour world.

We also have a plan to use WAA! for members to showcase their works in the form of mini Solo or in small groups of 2 to 5. We hope members will give the support and actively participate once we get the Rules and Terms drafted.

WAA! Watercolour Art Auction

Dear Members,

We have set up a FB group called “WAA! by PWCS” to facilitate online auction of members’ works. The group is open to public but only PWCS members can share their watercolours for auction purpose. So please accept our invitation to become “WAA! by PWCS” members and also help to promote this group by inviting your artist friends, collectors, art lovers etc to become members of the group, overseas friends are also welcome.

Rules & Terms
This platform serves as an online exhibition venue open for all to view and purchase artworks but only Penang Watercolour Society’s members are eligible to post their works.

Monthly Online Auction – The online auction will begin on Monday and end on Sunday 9pm during the first week of the month (Monday xx.xx.2020 to Sunday 9pm xx.xx.2020).
Kindly observe the following rules when posting artworks and bidding for artworks:

1) The artwork must be done in watercolour or predominantly with watercolour.

2) The artwork must be artist own creation.

3) Any subject matters are welcome except for topics on sensitive issues.

4) The Admin has the right to delete any post deem unsuitable.

5) All artworks must be for sale, the starting price should not be more than RM500.

6) Each member can post up to 5 paintings for each auction session, 1 painting per post.

7) Bidder can state the bidding price below the painting. Bidding price should start at the artist’s stated price and each bidding should increase by the multiple of RM50.

8) The last bidder at the closing time of 9pm will be the successful bidder. Artist is responsible to update his/her own posting with the word “Sold (name of bidder, price)” before the posting detail.

9) Painting not sold will be deleted from the post after the auction session (and not eligible for next auction). Only painting sold will remain in the group for record.

10) The bidding should be done using this platform and in the transparent manner. Any abandoned bid, secret dealing, painting not according to specified details etc are considered disruption to the auction, and may result in the expulsion of artist and bidder from the group.

11) Collection of money and delivery of painting to the succesful bidder is solely the responsibility of the artist. PWCS and the Admin are not responsible for any lost, damage to the painting and non-payment from the bidder.

12) Artist is to make a donation of 5% to PWCS for every painting sold, based on the final bidding price.
